Spring Break???

This is out of order, which really bothers me, but I had camera troubles so I am just now getting this post up...

Sister Bridget, hubby Brian, and son Trey (17) came to visit on Spring Break. We had a great time, but it was kind of a strange weekend. One day it was summertime weather and the next day it SNOWED. A lot. One day everyone was happy & healthy, and the next day Brian & Jack were both throwing up! Poor things! :( Bridget and I were unaffected, so we still enjoyed the weekend! Here are a few highlights of the weekend...

Enjoying dinner at PF Chang. mmmmmm.

Sister & I out on the town. We bought matching necklaces. So cute!

DAY 1: Brian & Jack frolicking in the yard

DAY 2: Brian & Jack sick on the couches. :(

DAY 1: Bridget enjoying a beautiful day outside...

DAY 2: Bridget watching her darling husband clear the SNOW off the car!

What a crazy weekend! Jack had loads of fun with Trey ( who effectively dodged the camera all weekend ) and Brian. Brian & Trey both have lots of energy and are GREAT with little kids. Jack adores them and was sad to see them leave.
Meanwhile, sister & I enjoyed a relaxing weekend full of coffee & chit-chat. :)
They didn't get the Texas springtime weather they were hoping for... I guess they'll just have to try again next year!

Round Top

I just got back from a wonderful weekend in Round Top, Texas with my trusty friend, Katy. We had a great time looking at all the antiques & treasures to be found, but we both agreed the best part was just getting away to this little piece of paradise in southern Texas. It is like stepping back in time...

The sweet little farmhouse where we stayed for the weekend. You could see nothing but grass, flowers & trees all around.
porches, hammocks, rocking chairs...ahhhhh....

Bluebonnets lining the lane to our little farmhouse

We had a few friends greet us on this misty morning on the way in to Round Top

More of the lane into town...

Now, once we got to town we were too busy perusing all the treasures to take any more pictures. Rest assured, a good time was had by all despite the lack of photos. I'll post pictures of my finds later. I must find them all a proper home first. :)

Garage Sale Fun!

Yippee! Garage Sale Season is upon us! Here are the treasures I found this weekend garage sale-ing in Anna & Van Alstyne with my sister Amanda...

A sweet little cream pitcher for 50 cents!

How can you not buy something monogrammed with your initial? It is like it is meant to be...

The green umbrella I showed you in an earlier post

Here is THE find. I have been wanting an old typewriter for quite awhile and was hoping to find one in Round Top. Well, I found it in Anna instead!

The typewriter AND the fun little stand were $25. I was pleased as punch!
OH, and speaking of punch...I found a wonderful punch bowl with the cups included for only $5. I forgot to take a picture of it though. Just trust me, it is cute. Perfect for a Springtime Luncheon!

piano!

We have a new old (1904) piano! We have wanted an old upright for a long time so when my sweet friend Mandy was getting rid of one from her grandmother's house in downtown McKinney we snatched it up! The neat thing about it is her grandmother said the piano was originally in a house in ... Anna! So after a century, it has come home! We are so pleased to have it!

It took some serious manpower to get it in the house.
THANK YOU, BOYS!!!

Whew!

Now it is home, sweet home in the dining room.

These are two old hymnbooks from my collection I found at a garage sale a few years ago.
I LOVE HYMNS!
I am making Justin play a hymn for me every day. :)
He is the only one in the house that can play.
We will start Jack in lessons in a year or so. I want lessons too!

A Sweet Reminder

These two items have been decorating my kitchen table for several weeks, but just the other day it occured to me that this display can be a sweet little reminder...
Life is a bowl of cherries
and
Don't cry over spilt milk!
